Maker of Organic Lavender Olive Oil Soap

“It’s Italian”

Lavender is one of our most ancient plants. It is said when Adam and Eve were exiled they took lavender with them to protect them from evil. Legends continue to perpetuate the theory that lavender in the garden of Eden contain no scent until Mary, mother of Jesus laid his clothing on the bush to dry.

Information regarding our Products

I don’t want to mislead anyone in calling my soap “Natural” but I can guarantee my soap is PURE SOAP.  Natural soap just doesn’t exist because soap doesn’t grow on trees and there is no such thing as a soap mine.  Soap comes from a chemical reaction of fat or oil and lye,  it’s not a natural process and that’s no “lie”.  When companies call their soap natural they are talking about the omission of extra chemicals – like artificial fragrances, preservatives colorants or other substances that make the soap prettier or lather better.  When looking  for a pure soap you need to look for a very short ingredient list.

I do not use micas and pigments because they start out as a natural product but then need to be colored and this process is done synthetically.  Not all  colorants are safe and yes they are used in processed foods and makeup but some colorants that were once deemed safe are now NOT.  It’s too confusing and I don’t want risk using them.  Instead I choose to color my soap with natures clays and plants nothing else.  So, if you’re looking for pure soap with a bit of essential oils and natures colors,  I use Alkanet Root, Madder Root, Pumpkin, Activated Charcoal, Coco, Herbs and Clays, which only enrich the soap with minerals and vitamins that are good for your skin.

My soaps are also not powerfully fragrant due to sensitivities, some people may be concerned about the safety of essentials oils-and rightly so.  Essential oils are powerful organic chemicals, I use minimal amounts of essential oils for their natural qualities only, not to compete with your perfume or cologne.   All the oils, butters and essential oils purchased to make my soap, with the exception of lavender, which is grown pesticide free and distilled here at Di Lavanda Farm,  are to the best of my knowledge certified FDA Organic.
